We are all guilty of using expired mascara, or makeup brushes that we know we should have given a second thought to & a rinse before application. Certain beauty routines should be a no-brainer especially when it comes to wellness. I am giving you 5 must do’s for ensuring that your beauty & skin will stay flawless and thank you in the long run.

  1. Make sure that you have to rub alcohol when makeup is being applied or using brushes. Yes, it may sound a bit eccentric but the alcohol will kill any bacteria that are lurking around whether it is on makeup brushes or the cosmetic product itself. I would recommend spritzing alcohol on each product before & after each use, it doesn’t need to be a lot just a light spray.
  2. Please make sure that all makeup brushes are deep cleaned every week & sprayed with brush cleaner & alcohol after each use. Makeup brushes can be deep cleaned by using a mild soap, or brush shampoo, remember this is different than just a brush cleaner.
  3. Can not stress this one enough, keep up with the expiration dates on makeup products. Yes, it seems like products never expire especially when it comes to eyeshadow pallets & lipsticks but they do. Using expired products will make your skin have really bad reactions. So go by the open jar on your products & stay current!
  4. Eyes are so sensitive and we are constantly enhancing them. This is fine to do as long as it is done safely, make sure that mascara is used only for 3 months and then tossed, after 3 months it is not fresh & is just harboring bacteria which is then transferred back & forth. Eyeliner, especially liquid should have the same lifespan of mascara since it is so close to the lash line. Don’t forget to change the rubber pads on your eyelash curlers. This may come as a shock, but yes this has to be done too!
  5. Stay safe when you are getting a makeover or trying on any makeup. Make sure your makeup artist has spitz brushes with cleaner & alcohol before application. One tip: purchase a mascara and have the makeup artist use it. It is a safe and worry-free way to make sure that it is a fresh mascara. After all, having a makeover is a treat! When you are trying makeup on whether it is your mom, best friend or at a store, make sure you are sanitizing by using alcohol before application.
